My Art

Walt: Create art that represents yourself

Task Description
Hi, my name is Caleb, and welcome to my blog. For extension this term, we had to create an artwork that was special to us and represented something in Aotearoa. For the animal, I chose a seagull as that is our native beach bird. For the Beach/Grass Area, I based it off Saint Heliers Beach, as that is my favourite beach in Auckland. And finally for the mountains, I based them off the beautiful coastlines of our beaches.

2019 Extension Highlights

This year, we have been doing a lot for extension. I have had a really fun year, and in this post, I will share some of my Highlights for the year.

Term 1: This term, we went to KPMG, which is a company which I loved. They were really kind, and I felt that they actually cared about us. We also did work on the treaty of waitangi, and we even did our own game design.

Term 2: This term, we did lots of work on robotics and devices. One day, we even got to code robots, and play Minecraft! We also went to KPMG, which I still think was the most active time.

Term 3: This term, we also went to KPMG, where I think I learnt the most. We also made our Film Festival movie.

Term 4: We of course went to KPMG. We also did work on UV lights, and we even made our own ones.

Those have been my highlights for this year. I hope you found this informative, and until next time, see ya!

KPMG Term 3

Today, the extension team, and a few others, went to KPMG. While we were there, we learnt about the ocean, and about pollution, and what it does. We also did an activity where we had to create a robot to help our gods. My groups god was the God of War, and the God of Mankind. Overall, I think that KPMG was really cool.

Orienteering

Today, the Extension group did Orienteering. Orienteering is like using a compass to get to different places. While we were at Extension, Mr Jacobsen came in and talked to us and taught us how to use a compass properly, then we all went outside to get ready for Orienteering.

When we got outside, we went onto the field, and waited for Mr Jacobsen to snd us to our right mark. I first went to room 28. I then went around to the different marks, while I was doing my seventh one, I realised I did a mistake, so I had to retrace my steps. I kept on tracking down the different marks for about more 10 minutes, until Mr J called us in. After he called us in, we took some photos, and came back to where I am right now.

Overall, I think that Orienteering is a really fun sport, and I would like to do it more. I would also love to use compasses more. I hope you enjoyed this, and until next time, see ya!

A Special Place

Hello, my name is Caleb, and in this writing I am going to be explaining about a special place. There are many special places in our community, however, I could only choose one. And that place is my school, Pt England.

There are so many good things about Pt England, I don’t know where to start, so how about I start by saying about what we do at Pt England. Pt England has over 650 students in our school. We also have 27 classrooms, with 1 or 2 teachers in each of them. Our school goes from years 1-8, which means you get to be at primary and intermediate here.

Every day, when the bell rings at 8:30am (for the year 7-8) or 8:50 (for the year 1-6), the kids come into class and start to learn. When the clock hits 11:00am, the kids get a break for eating, and playing. When the bell rings at 11;30am, the kids go back to class, and wait for their teacher to let them in for more learning. Then at 1:00pm, kids get another break for lunch and play. Then, at 2:00pm, another bell rings and the kids come back inside the classroom. At 3:00pm, when the bell rings, the school day ends.

We don’t just do the same thing every day, for 6 hours long, because that would be boring. Sometimes, we go on trips to places like the Zoo, Motat, the Museum, and so many more. Once every 2 years, we do this thing called Fiafia. Before fiafia, we practice a item that we choose. For example, when we write down what we want, and someone chooses Jump Jam first, then most likely, they will get Jump Jam. If they don’t get Jump Jam, they’ll probably get there 2nd or 3rd choice. We have to practice our item for nearly a whole term, and then near the end of the term, at night, we show our item. It really is marvellous.

Another reason I like our school is because we are really close to some other places, like Pt England Beach, and the GI pools. And that is really cool. One time a year, we visit the Beach for a whole day for a picnic. We also go to the pools for a few weeks a year, for swimming lessons.

There are also a tone of awesome things in our school to. A few years ago, they added a bike track, that goes around the playgrounds, around the field, and back. We can only ride the bikes if we have a certain ticket for bike riding, which is given to kids who are behaving and want one. As mentioned earlier, we also have two playgrounds, and two huge fields. They are really fun to play on.

There are so many more things I would like to add, but because of time, I could only write this much. From learning, to fiafia, these are some of the things that I really like about our school.I hope you found this information let you know a bit about our school. Bye.

My favourite games

This is a blogpost about games.

My favourite games (digital and non-digital) are:

  • Battlefront 1-2
  • Destiny 1-2
  • Fortnite
  • Cool maths games
  • Injustice 2
  • Maths Whizz
The reason/s why I enjoy playing these games are:

  • They are super fun and you can play most of them with real people
  • There is always something to do
  • You can make new friends in them
  • You can get rewards which you can use in game
  • Every time you play them, there will be something different every time

Learning could be made much more fun and interesting if it included these elements of a game:

  • Games where you don’t rage on and are always fun
  • A offline and online server
  • You get things in the game that you could use in that game, or in your class
  • It will never get boring

Cave Art Animation

Hello my name is Caleb and this is my cave art animation.

Long ago there lived a small tribe. One day while the tribe were siting down and talking, a giant, prehistoric rhino came and attacked their village. One of the tribe members scared the rhino of, however, the rhino killed one of there tribe members. The rest of the tribe chased the rhino until they found a bush. They decided to sit at a bush to rest. However, they didn't know that the rhino was hiding in the bush, and it jumped out and killed another member of the tribe, sending his body flying in the air.

The huge beast chased after one of the members who was running away. The others tried to save them, however, the body of the dead tribe member came down and fell on them, severely injuring them. There was only one tribe member left, and the rhino had cornered him. With one final hope, the member threw his spear, and hit the rhino in the eye just before it got him. The animal then fell down hole, never to be seen again.

The End
