Walt: use correct sentences to help structure our writing

Have you ever been blindfolded and had to be navigated around by someone, not knowing where you are? Room 7 went out and had the time of their lives. Read on to learn about the adventure that we went on.

We started off by getting our shoes on and lining up outside. After about three minutes, our teacher (Mr Goodwin) came and we headed off to our school playground. After we got there, Mr Goodwin told us that we were going to be blindfolded, and then told us to get into a buddy and then sit down. My buddy was Loseti. After that, Mr Goodwin told us the instructions. The instructions were that one of us had to be blindfolded, and the other person had to guide them around the playground, but you couldn’t make them walk into things. After that, we were ready. I was really nervous.

Me and Loseti both decided that I should be blindfolded first, so when Mr Goodwin said go, I put the blindfold and headed towards the park, being navigated by Loseti. At first, I didn’t trust Loseti, but then I remembered Mr Goodwin's instructions, and so I trusted him. At first, I didn’t know where I was going, but after feeling some of the objects, and thinking of the park, I was able to sort of figure out some of the places I went to. At first it felt like he was just running around and around the park, but then he made me climb something, which made me know that I was on one of the climbing obstacles. After going round the park, climbing up and down some obstacles a bit more, it was time to swap over.

After Loseti got the blindfold on, I made him run around the park, just like I thought he did to me. That took about one minute of our time. Next, I made him climb one of the climbing obstacles, and he almost fell down. I then made him climb up and down the other climbing obstacle. I made him climb across the monkey bars, walk around a bit, and then Mr Goodwin told us it was time up.

When Mr Goodwin first told us that we were playing with blindfolds, I became more nervous than when I climbed up the sky tower. But, after actually doing the experience, I wasn’t scared anymore. I think that this was a really fun experience and definitely recommend it too others.

2018 Term 4 about this term

The holidays have ended, and term 4 has begun. This terms topic is called Te wa toi, and that means doing art, crafting, and other stuff like that. Read on to learn what’s on this term, my goals, and more.

This term is really exciting because there are plenty of things on this term. I love doing lots, especially since some of the activity are athletics. Some of the things that are on this term that i’m excited for include The Manaiakalani Film Festival, Athletics day, and Prize Giving, and those aren’t even half the things we’re doing.

There are two goals that I really want to achieve this term. One of those goals is to be presenter for either my extension film festival movie, or my class film festival movie. My other goal is to be a leader at Year 6 camp.

This term I am hoping to learn about different ways to draw pictures and color things in. I also want to learn how to sketch. Another thing I want to learn about how to draw japanese art. I also want to learn about what life was like 200 or more years ago. The thing I want to learn most about is famous artists and know why they are so famous. The other thing I want to learn is to learn about pacific artifacts and items.

I am super excited for this term. There is a lot on this term including The Manaiakalani film festival and Prize giving, I have two goals that I am sure might happen, and I want to learn about how to do Japanese art. Overall I am really excited to blog post about all the things that we will be doing this term.

Qwanel the Zebra

Walt: write using humour

Qwanel was a Zebra who wanted to be a famous rugby player. He was only 2 years old (Which in human years was about 5 years old), but he never wanted to do anything more than to play rugby. He played for the ARC (Animal Rugby Club).

In his first year of rugby he scored 0 tries, did 0 rips, and whenever he got the ball, he would either go sideways or backwards, and, because this was his first year, his coach didn’t care to much. In his second year of rugby, he also scored 0 tries, got 0 rips, and whenever he got the ball, he would either run sideways, backwards, or would throw the ball at his teammates really hard so they would fall over and cry. The next year, he played his first year of tackle, so, since his coach didn’t want him to fail again, his coach called Daniel Carter so he could help Qwanel, and, to her surprise, Daniel Carter actually said yes.

The next day, Qwanel went with his parents to meet Daniel Carter, though Qwanel just thought that he needed extra practice. When he meet Daniel Carter, his jaws dropped, he peed his pants, and then jumped up and about excitedly. After he finally calmed down, Daniel Carter said “lets start training”.

For the next 5 weeks, Qwanel learnt how to tackle, how to get tries, how to pass, and so much more. On his next game, Daniel Carter came to watch. On that game, Qwanel got 2 tries, 8 tackles, and passed the ball to his teammates a few times. Qwanel then got player of the day.

The next game, a very very big kid was playing against Qwanel and his team. About halfway through the game, the big kid got the ball and decided he could run through Qwanels team and get a try, so, he ran through everyone in Qwanels team, apart from Qwanel. Qwanel stood back waiting for the guy and got ready to tackle the guy. The came in, getting ready to bump of Qwanel, but Qwanel tackled him instead. The match was cancelled because the big kid and the rest of Qwanels team were upset and were crying. That day, Qwanel learnt not only how to be good at rugby, but also how to be brave.

Picking up rubbish recount

Walt: structure a recount

Today everyone in the class sat on the mat without their chromebooks. Even though my teacher Mr Goodwin said to us “we are going out of the school for us to write a recount”, me and most of the other kids were confused. What do you think we were doing?




It started with Mr Goodwin telling us to go outside and wait for him to get outside as well. We then walked to a door on another building, which wasn’t very far. He told us to wait for a minute and we waited, until he came out with black bags. At first I thought we were playing a game where you have to try and stand on the platform and the platform gets smaller and smaller but, as I said, they were actually black bags. We then walked all the way passed the classes, passed the fields and, finally, we got to the gate. I was feeling really cold even though I had a jumper, and the people without jumpers were even colder. We got into groups, and I knew my group was going to win. Finally, Mr Goodwin got out the keys, put the keys in the gate, and opened it.




The race was on and…. wait, I haven’t even said what each group was supposed to do. Every groups objective was to pick up as much rubbish as they could in a certain length of time, and after the timer, we would go to a new area. Every group race out to a certain area which wasn’t past the boundaries and found lots of rubbish, including me, which made me feel proud. Our group, which included, me, Zaeeda, Benjamin, Tha-zin and Marie, found lots of rubbish scattered everywhere, which made my heart pump even faster. After a while, Mr Goodwin blew the whistle and we all came running towards him, laughing like crazy. He brought us to the 2nd spot, which was only a bit farther back. The first spot had a bit of rubbish but not that much, the second spot had a little bit less than the first one but only a bit less, the third one was at our schools bottom field and it had heaps of rubbish and the fourth destination was at our top field, which was double our bottom fields size and had double the rubbish.




Finally, after going to different destinations, picking up heaps of rubbish, and having an amazing time with my friends, me and my group finally had to line up to show another teacher called Mrs Haare, our bags. First she checked one groups bag, then she checked the second groups bag, then our bag, then the next groups bag, then the next one. Finally, she said she new who won. I was really excited because I thought my group could win. “The winning group is…….. this group” Said Mrs Haare as she pointed to the group next to us. Mr Goodwin then told us that the group that won could have ten minutes of cool math games after we had started writing the story that your reading now, but I didn’t care that we lost, do you know why, because I had heaps of fun with my friends instead.




I never thought that picking up rubbish could be fun, but it was. I think that this experience was good not only because we got to help our school community with picking up rubbish, but also because it was really fun. I would definitely recommend this for others because they should help there community like we helped ours. I definitely think our class, our school, and other schools, should try do this because it will make a big difference.

Mai didn’t even have time to scream. The two men grabbed her at the end of her street and threw her into the black van. One had half-shoved a gag over her mouth before she started lashing out She looked into the eyes of the man in front of her, a near-bald bulky thug who was trying to get a sack over her head. She kicked him in the middle of the forehead, and then spat the gag free He stumbled back, looking stunned. The man who was holding her from behind gripped her tighter. She hooked her foot back and wrapped it around one of his legs and kicked out again. He tipped sideways, hitting his head against the side of the van. But he didn’t let go. This man was good at his job, she thought. But not good enough. She lifted her foot and brought it down hard, raking his shin with her heel. At the same moment she threw her head back and felt the crack of it hitting his jaw.

What I did here was I read what the first page said with voice typing but it made allot of mistakes. The second one is what the page actually said, quite a differents, right?

Mr Goodwin vs Michael Jordan

All NBA legends are famous. None more so than the great Michael Jordan. One would expect that any regular person would recognize him immediately. Not Mr Goodwin. Mr Goodwin didn’t recognize him at all. In fact, Mr Goodwin of all things challenged him to a Basketball game.





Michael Jordan was 6,6. He was wearing a white top with green on the outline. He was the best player at basketball, everyone knew that, except for Mr Goodwin. The game started at 4:30 and hundreds of people came to watch. Mr Goodwin’s heart was pounding. He was watching Michael Jordan standing there. 3,2,1, GO! And then the buzzer went off and Mr Goodwin got the ball, aimed at the basket, and threw itl.





The ball went in the hoop and Mr Goodwin got three points. Michael Jordan got the ball but it got intercepted by Mr Goodwin and Mr Goodwin got another three points. Mr Goodwin kept on getting more and more points until the score was 78-0.




Michael Jordan was looking at the crowd, panting and sweating but he still didn’t give up. The timer kept on going down and Mr Goodwin kept getting points. After the timer hit 1 Minute, Mr Goodwin asked Michael Jordan “Do you want the ball, here you go”. Michael Jordan ran for the ball but Mr Goodwin moved out of the way and threw the ball in the hoop to make the score 156-0.





For the final 20 seconds Mr Goodwin dribbled the ball around and kept on stopping Michael Jordan from getting the ball. At the last second, Michael Jordan got the ball, threw it as hard as he could at Mr Goodwin's hoop and instead of getting the ball in the hoop made it bounce of the back of the basketball hoop and hit Michael Jordan, sending him flying back into the wall.





Michael Jordan didn’t move and Mr Goodwin slowly walked backwards to go outside. “Stop that man!”, Said a man in a uniform. Mr Goodwin then ran outside with some guards chasing him, hoping to escape and live to tell the tale…….

Description: In this game you are the white line. If the block at the front touches the other white lines or the balls, you will lose. So far I don’t know if you can get to another level because I have only got up to about score 100.

3 sentences about what the game is like and what you liked about it.	The game is sometimes fun and sometimes frustrating. This game can be really hard and annoying, but it is also fun. I think it’s fun because you can get so many points and fell so important.
2 sentences about how you would improve it.	I would make the balls stop trying to target you and make them randomly bounce in random position. I would also make the balls and the white line go way slower.
1 sentence about why you would recommend/ or not recommend this game to a friend.	I would recommend this game because it is really fun trying to dodge dangerous balls trying to destroy you.

Food War Part 2: New enemy's

Boom, the apple punched the cotton candy so hard that he went flying of the table. “You deserved that you angry bulldozer” said the Apple as the turned to look at the Carrot. “Thank you” Said the Carrot with joy in his face. “If you are a fruit, stand with me” Said the Apple as the rest of the food stood just behind him. “What are you doing Apple, I thought you were my friend” Said the Carrot shocked. “My names not Apple, it’s Apolo!” Shouted Apolo as he and the fruit charged towards the Carrot. “Charge mighty Vegetables!” Shouted the Carrot as he and the Vegetables charged towards the fruit. Both fruit and Veges charging towards each other as the candy climbed down the table trying to help the Cotton Candy. The food charged at each other with Bananas being chopped up, Oranges being Juiced and so much more food got attacked. After a while the food stopped and both teams ran to a new area. “Carrot, what are we going to do now?” Asked a Brocoli puffed out and scratched. “First of all, my name is Cortus and second of all, tell everyone i’m the leader and if anyone thinks that i’m not, eliminate them!” Shouted Cortus with an angry face.





“Sir, are you ok” Said a Apple sized Gummy bear as the Cotton Candy awoke looking very bad. “I’ve thought of a name in my sleep” Said the Cotton Candy. “And it is Carton” Said Carton with a slight grin on his face. “Well, what are we going to do?” Said the gummy Bear. “We will find a place to hide and then I will get the best men with me to go out and get rid of that stupid Apple, let’s move it” Said Carton as he got up and started walking in a random direction.





“Everyone, follow me” Said Apolo as he turned around and started climbing down the piece of rope dangling down. Everyone climbed down while the vegetables stood back and watched the fruit climb down. When everyone got down, Apolo Said “Everyone quick, go to that room over there, you’ll be safe” Said Apolo pointing towards the lounge.





After a while, Cortus and the Vegetables climbed down the table, walked towards the stairs and climbed up the stairs. After they got to the top of the stairs Cortus asked for 5 other men. Then Cortus and the 5 other men charged back down the stairs.





Carton finally found a place that he thought was nice. The place he thought was nice was the closet. “Come on guys, let’s go up there” Said Carton as he started climbing up the ladder that led to the closet.





After Apolo and the fruit climbed up on the table in the lounge, Apolo said “You guys rest while me and a few others guard you guys, ok”. The Fruit like that so over night, Apolo and a few others guarded the fruit. “I don’t know how i’m going to stop this war, I guess I will just have to see what happens” Said Apolo as he looked out into the house and smiled.

Matariki Day recount

Walt: To structure a recount

Have you ever been split up into different classes? Well last friday every student from every class got put into different groups, the four groups were Cooking, Craft, Sports and Movie Making. The group I was in was craft.





Me and George where in the same group and we had to find room 18. When we got there I saw lots of people. Some of the people I saw there were Austin, who is in extension with me, Malakai who is one of my friends little brother and the other Caleb. After about 5 minutes we went in and saw Mrs Mackinlay and Mrs Wilson. I wondered what we were doing until Mrs Mackinlay told us that we were going to be doing weaving and coloring.





I was very excited and wondered what we were going to be doing first, I then went with half of the class to Mrs Wilson to do weaving. I helped Malakai with his weaving and I also did my own weaving, both of our weavings turned out great. Then we went to Mrs Mackinlay to color in paper flowers, which turned out great.





We had morning tea and lunchtime which was cool, because we got popcorn. We then cut out the paper flowers for a bit, then sadly we had to go to the hall. After we got to the hall, each group had to show what they had done. We were the first group to show everyone our work, so we got on the stage and I thought, What if they don’t like our work? But it turned out that they liked our art so I told everyone what we did and how exciting it was. Then all the other groups showed their creations and they were all very cool. After all the creations had been showed, Mr burt let us get up and go home.





I thought matariki day was awesome. We didn’t just have a day of no learning, but we also learnt about matariki and why it is important. Will you ever do Matariki? And if you do, what will you do?

Little red riding hood and the Castle

Once upon a time there lived a little girl called Little red riding hood. She was called that because she always wore a red hood. One day Little red riding hood and her mom were visited grandpas when the phone rang. “I’ll get it for you dad, you stay there” Said the mother as she took the phone and listened closely. “Ok, we’ll be there soon, bye”. “What did she say” Asked Little red riding hood. She isn’t feeling well and she wants some food, dad, is it ok if we take some of this food” Said the mother. “Sure no problem, Little red riding hood, take this food to grandma and make sure to always follow the flowers, now run” Said the Grandpa. Ok, got it, bye” Said little red riding hood as she darted out the house and started running towards grandma’s house.





After running for at least five minutes, Little red riding hood stopped and lay down. Then a wolf jumped out. “Hey, before you make me your enemy, I just want to know what have you got in that basket” Said the wolf. “I’ve got some cakes and biscuits for my granny” Said Little red riding hood. “Oh, it’s just i’m really really hungry” Said the wolf. “Go away, you're not going to get any of this food!” Said little red riding hood as she ran away. The wolf then chased after the girl and ran past her. After a long time the wolf reached grandma’s house and to his surprise, the house was actually a really big castle. The Wolf then looked up and saw about 20 archer’s point there arrows at the wolf. The archers fired there arrows at the wolf and all of them missed except for one which got him in his tale. “OOOWWW” Shouted the wolf as he ran around the front gate. He was so angry that he ran into the door and smash into pieces. Some of the pieces hit a really big tree and the tree fell forward and smashed the top of the castle making the archers fall down and get crushed by the rock’s.





After four minutes, Little red riding hood reached the castle and saw the destroyed castle. She slowly walked through the door and right as she got in, the wolf grabbed the girl. “You need to show me where your granny is right now” Said the wolf. “I don’t know where she is, I haven’t even been here.” Said little red riding hood. “Oy there, you are under arrest” Said a guard running after them. “Run, go now” Said the wolf as he and little red riding hood ran up some stairs. They ran up the stairs when they saw about 10 rooms. “Quick, let's go in this room” said the wolf as they opened the door. When they went in the room they saw some poisonous snakes so they ran out. In the second door there was a guy with a sword. In the third room there were some killer rabbits and in the fourth room there was john cena. There were also 3 elephants, a cybermical robot with lasers, a killer clown called bit and so much more weird things. Soon all the 10 guards realized that there were lots of dangerous things behind them but it was to late. The first guard got bitten by the snakes, the second guard tried to fight the guy with the sword and ended up being stab through the heart, the third guy got eaten by the killer rabbits and the fourth guard couldn’t see john cena and got attitude adjusted by him. There were 6 guards left and they were running faster than ever. One of the guards threw his spear at one of the elephant head and killed it. The elephant fell down and squashed the guy with the sword and 3 out of the 5 killer rabbit. The guard that threw the spear then got killed by the robot. The wolf and little red riding hood then saw a big pillar and decided to push it down. Another guard decided to stand and fight them but then got trampled by everyone else. The wolf and little red riding hood pushed and pushed until it fell over. The 4 guards decided to climb the wall and while they were climbing, bit threw a knife at one of the guards and made him fall. The wolf and little red riding hood saw two set of stairs. “Let’s go up this set of stairs” Said the wolf as they took of. One of the guards jumped down just as one of the elephants destroyed the pillar and killed the other two guards. The final guard decided to throw his spear at the robot to make him destroy the others so he threw his spear at the robot and the robot started shooting his lasers at everyone. After the robot destroyed everyone with his lasers, he fell down and shut down. The guard then look at his chest which had just been hit by three laser and then he fell down, and died.





The wolf ran faster than little red riding hood and ran until he heard a voice. The wolf step into a room which had a suit on the bed. The wolf was awfully cold so he put the suit on and sat in the bed. Little red riding hood soon got to the room and saw the wolf in the bed. “Granny, i’m so glad to see y-, wait…”. “Wait what” Said the Wolf. “What big ears you have, what big eyes you have and what big teeth you have” Said little red riding hood. “First of all, it’s me the Wolf, second of all, I brought you here so I can eat you” Said the Wolf as he sprang out of bed and ran towards Red riding hood. The second the Wolf jump out of bed, the closet door opened and an old lady came out and ran towards the wolf. The old lady kept on whacking the Wolf until the Wolf died. “Granny” Said little red riding hood as she gave granny a hug “I have brought some food for you, just like you asked”. “Thank you dear, now come and sit with me” Said granny as she and little red riding hood sat on the bed together hugging each other

Once there was a big beetle named Bob. Bob was different because he had a very big bottom. All the other animals laughed at him because of his bottom. One day Bob was walking along when he heard a noise. He then scuttled over to the noise and he saw a ant was stuck in the tree. Bob went to go and help him but the ant didn’t want Bob to help him because of the his big bottom. Bob sadly walked up a tree and saw a worm in a crows mouth calling for help he offered help but the worm didn’t want his help. He sadly kept on walking and found another beetle she had an equally big bottom as him. So he started to eat a lot of food and after he could not walked because he had a big bottom. Also his Bottom weighed 1219038732874937683697236498364837548676 kg He could not control it because it was ULTRA ULTRA big. So since he couldn't stand, walk, and feel happy he stayed home everyday. He was so embarrassed but he couldn’t live like that anymore so he said that “ he got ready to go to the new gym “he whet to the gym and he started lifting weights he did it but he only did 1. The next day he started watching Tv he was watching food Tv and a ad came on how to become strong call 000,000,000 so he he called it and a man came to his house and he looked awful as.
